Running away from you as fast as I can

For the past year I've been running. Running has become excessively. Run by run I have taken it too a higher level. Last summer I exchanged my old worn-out black Adidas running shoes for new cute silver pink running shoes. Bought running shorts (pink!) and adjusted my diet to help my body to train better.
Though, I am not comfortable with running in a big city. I prefer to run in nature where there are as less people as possible. And me living in a bigger city is not conducive to my running schedule. I haven't run for the past 12 weeks, but now that I find myself at my parents place for the Holidays I have been running 3 days in a row!

On the internet you can find all these amazing sites about special diet supplements, running gear, training charts etc. Everything to help you run, run better and how you should run. But what you do not find on those websites are helpful tips that you acquire during the running itself. So I took the liberty to provide you with some useful inside running tips!

(1) Keep a tissue in your pocket.
In summer for allergies and in winter due to excess mucus because of the cold.
Solution in case you don't have a tissue:
You can either use a big leaf or instead of blowing your nose with a tissue/leaf try to get the mucus up your throat and spit it out. Mind you, make sure there are no cyclists or pedestrians passing by so you do not spit on them!

(2) Tie your key on your shorts drawstring
My running shorts doesn't have pockets, se where do I keep my key during running? My solution is to tie it at the elastic band of your training pants. If you don't have a string tie it around your wrist.

(3) Do not eat cucumber or an orange right before you start running.
It makes you burb during your run!

(4) Don't listen to music while running.
You'll start to run in the beat of the music and that is annoying. Unless the song has the same beat as your run rhythm. I prefer to run in silence and listen to the surrounding nature and clear my mind from superfluous sounds and other nonsense.

(5) Extra proteins
Occasionally one of those small black flies fly in your mouth. You know the ones I mean, they always fly in bigger groups in the evening when the sun gives it lasts warmth. At first when one of those little bastards flew in my mouth I would be disgusted and leaning forward while trying to spit them out. But then I suddenly realised, they contain proteine! Which is good for making my body strong and healthy. A good addition to my diet!
So now when I see a pack of them hovering in mid air I no longer run huddled pass them, no, I run with my head high and mouth wide open to catch as many as I can!

(6) Tiger balm
Before (or after) I run I rub Tiger Balm on my muscles. Tiger Balm is made from a secret herbal formulation that dates back to the times of the Chinese emperors. Originally named for containing tiger bone, an ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine dating back 1,500 years to treat pain, inflammation and to strengthen muscle. I don't know if it still contains tiger bone and if it is tested on animals or not. If so I have a problem.
Anyway, tiger balm is a think paste and comes in a small bottle. When you try to get it out it gets stuck under your finger nails. It stays there even if you wssh your hands and if you prepare food or put your fingers in your mouth you taste it, and it is the most unpleasant taste! Trust me I tasted it! Bleh...

My solution: use a cotton tip.
I know it looks like earwax, but ignore the fact that it looks like you've cleaned your ears. Put it on your fingers and rub your muscles. Wash your hands and your done!

(7) Getting "stronger" in many ways
With running you train condition and endurance. Some say it's bad for your kneejoints but that's rubbish. Listen carefully to your body to see how far you can go. Not only you are physically getting stronger, emotionally as well! And that might be the biggest advantage of running. While running you are focused on yourself, you can clear your head and put your troubles aside.

Now start running! Just run. Just be.
Be persevere!

At last a nice article about "Confessions of a running addict."
